Imaginary space

This image is a great example of imaginary space. There is a lot going on in this piece, but I thing that's what makes it interesting to look at. Your eyes move from spot to spot.

This piece is done by an artist called STMTS who makes art out in Greece usually. And the reason why I'm drawn to this is because the area he left it and also how it presented to whoever looks at this piece.

This image of President Obama was created by my favorite artist Sam Pratt and he is 24 years old. I am drawn to his work because of the great amount of detail he includes and because I find him to be very admirable through his work.

                                                                                   Born on March, 30th 1853 

Van Gogh spent his young adult life working for art dealers. In the beginning of his art career, he limited his color pallet to very dark colors. When he came across Impressionism and Neo-Impressionism in Paris his style changed, and he began to use brighter colors and developed a style that was uniquely recognizable. Van Gogh was a hard worker, and produced more than 2,000 paintings, drawings and sketches in the last ten years of his life.

I am drawn to Van Gogh's artwork because of the bright colors he uses in his paintings and how he incorporates impressionism into his artwork.

Akiane is mostly a self taught painter and paints mostly religious pictures of god or different things that are happening in the world that she wants to bring awareness to. SHe started drawing when she was just 4 years old. What is weird is that he parents were both atheists when she first started painting and drawing. Her first self-portrait sold for $10,000. 

I am drawn to her work because of how professional it is and how much she has grown from when she was 4 to now. Her Work astonishes me that she could be that good at the age of 4. Her hand drawing that she did when she was five is much better than the one I had to do for this class.

1. Sean Hagan, 32 maybe (I dont know his exact age)
2. Head of the Fine Arts Department at Lexington High School (where I attended), graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, received a BFA in illustration in 1998, and a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Massachusetts at Boston in 2008, he also studied multimedia design at Harvard University.In 2003 Mr. Hagan started his own visual art consulting business, working with clients such as PBS, Sesame Street, Nickelodeon etc. He has also written and illustrated the children’s book, Jonah and the Junkyard Sled.
3. I am drawn to his work because he is the reason I love art. I've taken art classes since I was little and when I was in his class, there was just something about it that made me realize that art is one of my passions. It might be because I can really relate to his artwork and/or he uses a lot of vibrant colors that attract the viewers attention; and for me, when i think about his work, I get touched/inspired.

He lived from 1898 until 1971

He was a very sucessful magazine designer for Bazaar. He was from russia, and moved to america. He used photographs in magazines which shaped the basis for how magazines are designed today  

I actually studied him for graphic design history class, and became very interested in him because I eventually want to be a magazine designer in the future. I really love the simplicity of his designs, and the photohraphs he uses. I also envy how he took a risk to design something totally different from the previous norm of magazine design in his time.

We went to the same high school. I was close enough to her to see how she did all her artwork. She usually focused on animals, photography and pottery and stuff like that.

I like animal based stuff, that's' chill, and that's what she usually focused on, so i'm pretty sure that's what drew me in. And she always used a lot of color, that caught my eye too.

 

Artist: Alex Turner, 20

• Alex and I went to the same high school (Dartmouth High) and he's currently a student here at Lasell.
• He was an AP art student in DHS, which has a stellar art program, and he's continued to develop his skills now in college. 
• He's only done a few silk paintings, but he's already shown a great aptitude for the medium and has developed his own style. All of his paintings are one of a kind and some can be found on Etsy for sale (He also does commissions, if anyone's interested.)
• I'm drawn to his work because the unique medium and the amount of skill and knowledge and patience it takes to make even one piece. It's a really impressive and difficult job.

• He is deceased, he lived form 1928-1987
• He was a leading figure in the visual art movement also known as Pop Art. He studied commercial art at the school of fine arts. 
• Fun fact: he was banned from the art club at his high school because he was substantially better than all the others that were in the group.
• I love his work because he didn't just stick with one form of expression he did films, music, as well as screen printing. His work was unique and very interesting.

This picture was taken from a tree in my backyard. The leaves have a lot of curves widths throughout. It shows great gesture very noticably.

As long as everyone's posting pictures of trees... The trees by the Wolfe building look to be a good example of gesture.

This is a picture of trees at my house. I think this represents gesture because of the way some of the branches lead down.

This is a picture of a tree I saw on campus. It bends very naturally and describes what I think gesture means and I think it would make an interesting competition because of it's angles.

The art thief - Stik

This was great street art, I mean just look at it. It's such a simple design, but its still cool to look at too. Plus it gets it's point across too, it looks like an art thief.

Leonardo da Vinci

This is a female face, drawn by Leonardo da Vinci. He's one of the greatest artists to ever live, so picking one of his pictures may have been cheating? But regardless of who drew it, you can see how carefully the details on the face have been done. His shading really gives the picture great depth and realism. He has an amazing grasp of the use of line; you can see along the curve of the woman's face how the lines take into into account the bone structure of her cheeks.

This Drawing is made by Stephen Wiltshire. What I like most about this drawing is the way he used line. Especcially in the sky how you can see the cross-hatching, and it creates a lot of depth, and texture. Also the reflection on the water makes the image beautiful and realistic.

This piece of art is by Alex Pardee who is one of my favorite artists. I think it's successful because it uses detailed and angled lines to bring you into the piece. I think it is an interesting take on an average skill because it's not how many people would typically look at one. It's mostly successful because it has a good sense of depth without using shading.

Awaiting the Cue

 In drawing by Degas, I really like his use of line to show the texture in the tutu. I really connect to this piece because I used to dance and so the drawing of ballerinas and their beauty is just something I really love. Like his use of line to show the light reflecting off of the girls hair to show the shininess. I like the way that this drawing doesn't really look like it is all composed of line but it is if you really look close.

Successful because of the realistic feel and original idea. The shading and contrast make it feel 3 dimensional and give the illusion of depth as the man seems to actually crawl through the paper towards us.

The use of Van Gogh's line's are just magnificent. I love how everything flows in not just this piece of art work but in all of his pieces. I have always been interested in Vincent Van Gogh's art work. His work just grabs your eyes and draws you in to one point in the painting and brings you through the painting with all of the line use.
